Provo River Blue Wings
Utah Fly Fishing Report for November 2019 on the Middle Provo River. November is starting off with some amazing dry fly fishing. The blue winged olives are going strong from about 12;30 to 3:30. The little mayflies are about a size 22-24. Going smaller (Size 24) will definitely increase your odds for success.
Nymphing is pretty good especially during the hatch. Tiny BWO emerger patterns such as RS2’s and ju ju baetis have been working great.
Trout have begun their pre spawn behaviour and will be in full spawn mode by Thanksgiving. The BWO’s will fade and nymphing with midges and egg patterns will be the main diet through the month. Big trout are around and getting active with spawn coming. Now is a great time to find a big Provo River brown trout.
If you’re in the Park City, Salt Lake City or the northern Utah area make sure you add a trip to the Provo this Fall. Jeremy Allan Fly Fishing
