Park City Utah Fly Fishing Small Creek

Fall Fly Fishing In Utah

Fly fishing in Utah through the Fall months is typically really good and is an amazing time to be on a trout stream. Casting a dry fly to wild brown trout with golden cottonwoods reflecting off of the river is a such a cool experience. Crisp mornings and warm afternoons make for perfect conditions to catch our local brown trout. With the cooling temperatures and Fall hatches, trout become more active and we have ideal conditions for some great trout fishing. Caddisflies, Blue Winged Olives and PMD mayflies are around through the end of October.

Being surrounded in the colors of Fall can make it hard to concentrate on fishing but we’ll do our best to keep you focused. So let’s get out and enjoy a beautiful Fall day on the river.

Fall On The River

What a great time to be on our Utah rivers. It’s pretty hard to not have a great day out there. Fishing is excellent pretty much all day long. With midges hatching in the morning, PMD’s and Blue Winged Olives in the afternoon and then Caddisflies in the evening, the trout have snacks all day long.

With our cooler Fall temperatures the bigger brown trout start getting more aggressive and are more likely to be caught. Nymphing, dry flies and streamer fishing are all great techniques this time of year.

Those Fall hatches can make things a little tricky so having some local knowledge about the life-cycle for those late season bugs will really improve your day. Make sure you know what time of day and time of year certain bugs are hatching as well as what to use and where. This means everything for a successful day of fly fishing.
