Fall fly fishing on Utah’s Provo River is by far my favorite time of year. Here in Utah we are lucky enough to experience all four seasons and Fall is great. With the cooler temperatures the trout will become more active after the dog days of Summer start to fade. The leaves will begin to change, rivers are down to their Fall flows and fishing is spectacular.

Fishing Expectations
PMD’s and Blue Wings will be making a strong showing in the afternoon with a few big caddisflies starting to appear. Nymphing is typically great and should just get better with the Blue Winged Olives being the consistent hatch through November. Dry fly opportunities can be expected most afternoons and can be great at times throughout the Fall months.
Look for bigger brown trout this time of year, with the Fall mayflies and cooler weather those big trout will be more active throughout the day. Streamers, dry fly fishing and nymphing can all produce some big angry browns.
